The Johnson County Livable Community's goal is to help Johnson County become a more livable community where everyone can age successfully. Johnson County Livable Community offers multiple Aging in Place Forums throughout the year; each forum covers a different topic.
The topic for this forum was working with contractors to modify your home so that you can age in place. Andy Martin and GT Karr with The Greater Iowa City Area Home Builders Association present tips on how to find and qualify a contractor for your future construction and remodeling projects. They discuss what to ask, best practices when looking to hire, and expectations clients should have of their contractors for the best experience.
Also covered, is making sure the contractor is licensed and insured, why contracts and payment schedules are important, talk about using change orders, and other ways to ensure that you are getting a quality, dependable, professional contractor. The presenters also touch on easy and affordable aging in place measures.
