OPERATIONS SUPERVISOR (Parking focus)
Transportation Services
One permanent full-time position available
Salary Range: $47,299.20 – $70,740.80
Hours: Monday – Friday, 2PM – 11PM
Supervises the operational, financial and personnel activities of the Iowa City parking and mass transit system. Oversees the customer service and cashiering operations during evening hours. Assists in overseeing evening maintenance staff operations. Directly supervises on-duty staff. Is valuable member of management team to provide excellent services to customers. Analyzes current customer service and cashiering practices and develop procedures that enhance our customer service operations and implement these procedures to better utilize resources. Performs initial training for customer service and cashiering staff. Trains employees, focusing on customer service and the use of T2 flex parking management software. Develops and delivers ongoing operational training. Participates in hiring process. Investigates misconduct and recommends action to be taken. Evaluates employee job performance. Coaches employees in areas needing improvement. Dispatches, directs and supports daily operations. Ensures all personnel and vehicle assignments are filled. Supervises operations to ensure policy and schedule adherence. Coordinates service disruptions caused by weather and traffic. Provides recommendations for budget planning. Oversees expenditures and revenues. Schedules employees to cover vacant shifts, vacations and last minute absences. Completes employee time records and reconciles with scheduled hours. Records complaints and compiles data for reporting purposes. Maintains various operating statistics; compiles daily/monthly/annual reports. Interacts with other City Departments. Assists in planning for service expansion and/or reduction. Assists customers with vehicle impound releases. Answers phones and email requests for information. Performs mid-shift audits of evening cashiers. Resolves customer conflicts and assist with daily customer interactions. Performs all other related duties.
Minimum Education, Experience and Certification
Associate’s degree from a DOE recognized accredited school or high school diploma and two years of related experience and/or training is required. A valid Iowa driver’s license, with satisfactory driving record, is required An Iowa commercial driver’s license, class B with air brakes and passenger endorsement, is required within 90 days of hire. Participation in random drug testing pool required. Preemployment drug screen required. Must pass background check. Experience with T2 flex parking management software is preferred. Bachelor’s degree from a DOE recognized accredited school is preferred. Three years of related experience and/or training preferred.

Supervises the operational, financial and personnel activities of the Iowa City parking and mass transit system. Oversees the customer service, enforcement and financial reporting operations with an emphasis on the operation of the T2 flex parking management software. Directly supervises on-duty staff. Is a valuable member of management team to provide excellent services to customers. Analyzes current customer service practices including use of T2 flex parking management software, develops procedures that enhance customer service operations and implements these procedures to better utilize resources. Performs initial training for customer service and enforcement staff. Trains employees focusing on customer service and the use of T2 flex parking management software. Develops and delivers ongoing operational training. Audits daily receipts, reconciles daily credit card and cash reports and performs routine audits of employees that handle cash. Prepares daily enforcement reports. Reviews reports with enforcement staff as needed. Participates in hiring process. Investigates misconduct and recommends action to be taken. Evaluates employee job performance. Coaches employees in areas needing improvement. Dispatches, directs and supports daily operations. Ensures all personnel and vehicle assignments are filled. Supervises operations to ensure policy and schedule adherence. Coordinates service disruptions caused by weather and traffic. Provides recommendations for budget planning. Oversees expenditures and revenues. Counts revenue from daily parking meter collections. Prepares deposits. Maintains various operating statistics; compiles daily/monthly/annual reports. Interacts with other City Departments. Has daily communications with Accounting. Assists in planning for service expansion and/or reduction. Answers phones and email requests for information. Maintains parking database, including daily sales items, monthly permits, daily facility revenues (POS and pay station operations), and parking enforcement handheld software maintenance. Creates and modifies Crystal Reports to best assist the Department. Manages an internal permit payment plan. Invoices and tracks various validation services and bus pass sales. Resolves customer conflicts and assists with daily customer interactions. Assists with scheduling employee vacations. Performs all other related duties.
Minimum Education, Experience and Certification
Associate’s degree from a DOE recognized accredited school or a high school diploma and two years of related experience and/or training is required. A valid Iowa driver’s license, with satisfactory driving record, is required. An Iowa commercial driver’s license, Class B with air brakes and passenger endorsement, is required within 90 days of hire. Participation in random drug testing pool required. Pre-employment drug screen required. Must pass background check. Extensive experience with T2 flex parking management software exceeding two years is preferred. Bachelor’s degree from a DOE recognized accredited school is preferred. Three years of related experience and/or training preferred. Crystal Reports and Oracle database experience preferred. Accounting experience preferred.
